Electric fish tank coffee table? I am looking for a coffee table that has fake fish that you plug into the wall and makes it look real. Anyone know where I could find one of these?

Anyone had any experience with coffee table fish tanks? I am interested in getting a coffee table fish tank and was wondering if anyone has had one and what fish did they keep in it? The dimensions are approx 42" x 27"

lulu replied: "yes, I have just sold one on Ebay - they are a nightmare to keep clean, the pumps gave up very soon after buying it, and we're so unaccessable to reach to clean out - the mains lead wasn't very lomg so we we're restricted where to put it - and the glass top ALWAYS looked dirty due to scratches (god know how they got there) and the condensation. i would never have one again - they look great at first but are a lot of hard work and not very practical ! Edit - they look great at night, when clean and with the right lighting - but in daylight it looked awful when the sun shone on it - I hated it in the end - glad to see it gone"

Ollie M replied: "no"

anyone have a fish tank coffee table.....? do you have a yahoo messenger name so i can ask you a question?

angel baby replied: "i have never herd of a fish tank coffee table."

JR replied: "Those are cool aren't they."

SALSA replied: "No, but I sure do like them. Very cool. Why not just ask the question here?"

troxie79 replied: "I would love to have one, also I would like to have one of those fish tank toilets."

*Future Veterinarian* replied: "someone asked a question about making a custome coffee table a few weeks ago. if you are level 2 or higher, you should be able to look under similar questions that appears when you ask a question. just play around with your wording and you are sure to find it."

Skittles replied: "I dont have one, but I still would not recommend it because every time you set something down it shakes the tank and scares the fish."

Jewels replied: "We bought one for my mother years ago but it appears they still sell the exact same one now ..one like the one on this link: The problem she had was maintenance. It doesn't have a very good filter system and being glass all around it showed dirt everywhere. There may be better ones on the market these days but I would do your research before investing in it. The other issue is that coffee tables are in the most visited part of the house most of the time and you are always placing things on them and moving around them..fish tend to get stressed easily and may hide in the center of the tank, where you can't ever see them. I would put tons of hiding places in it to keep stress levels down and hope for a peek at the fish when it's quiet and peaceful. Good luck!"

copperhead replied: "This is the question Future Veterinarian was referring to: See Barb's link for one design and this one from my answer: They look great, but I can see how they'd have a problem with lighting and filtration."

fl_lopez replied: "I have an aquarium coffeetable, my Yahoo id is fl_lopez"

gold fish jumped out of the aquarium? anyone ever experienced this? I was sitting in the lounge minding my own business when I suddenly heard a "thud" looked around I saw one of my gold fish on the floor. Ive got one of those coffee table fish tanks with air vents on its side. i quickly put him back in the tank and just hope he's not hurt. he or she made my day had never seen this before

thebeermatman replied: "Something Fishy going on here :))"

xheartxbrokenx replied: "wowww thats so wierd! ive had many fish in my lifetime but never had it jump out of the fishbowl! haha omg i wud love to see that. but i wud never want the fish to get hurt."

coolcatwithabullet replied: "Sometimes fish just jump out of the tank. It is normal for some types of fish, and I have had guppies and all kinds of fish jump out of my tank. The best thing I can tell you is get a cover, one of those mesh ones, and put that over any openings. Good luck!"

x sparkle x replied: "They're very clever, my Auntie thought hers had died as it was lying on its side so 'fished' it out and flushed it away only to find it swimming in the toilet basin a few hours later...spooky! She actually put it bank in the tank and it lived for a few more months!"

Barry K replied: "If the jump was over 1 foot 6 and 3/4 inches, it is an olympic record, and you fish has become a Gold Medal Fish."

lil-missy replied: "umm gold fish shouldent jump some things must of scared him i hv 3 ummm i hope the ywill be kk"

Brooke J replied: "when i was little i had a gold fish and i came in my room one time and it was lying on the floor! it was still alive but stuck to the carpet! my mom peeled him off and put him in water. she swirled him around with her finger to get some oxygen going. he lived for like 2 more years lol."

Iain L replied: "It should be fine, I found my cats playing with a furry fish on the carpet a couple of years ago and it somehow survived. I couldn't even identify it it had so much carpet fluff attached its still swimming happily around its tank to this day."

Irena D replied: "It is normal for some fish to jump out the tanks, never seen a goldfish do it yet. Get a cover for your tank so it will not happen again."

Electra replied: "My father has a goldfish my daughter won from the fair 10 years ago and I think he thinks he is a dolphin he does try to jump out and plays with the large jewel type stones, he is ever so noisy, but funny."

confused with what to do with m fish? Hi there. I have a 150ltr approx coffee table fish tank with underground built in filter. Ive added a extra filter myself. Oooo were do i start!! When i have bought my fish i have always asked if the fish could go together. Introduced gradually., Well i have 2 large fan tails about 3inch long. 2 small fan tails 1 inch long. 3 minos. I also have a plec. The gudgen i bought from the pet shop i know its a river fish the pet shop said it would be ok.It seems to be attacking the minos mainly what shall i do? Thanks ever so for any help xx

katelyn.louise replied: "You should take back the fish and complain that they definatly don't go together. If you really like the fish then you should take out the minnows instead and see if that helps."

Dark Angel Rogue replied: "What idiot at the pet store sold you COLDWATER fish and TROPICALS!? Your plec needs MUCH warmer water than your fantails will be happy with. A gudgeon is not a fish name. It describes any number of fish under the genus. What exactly do you have - is it a goby? If so, that would explain the nippy factor towards your minnows. You needs to decide what you want to keep - tropical or coldwater. Tropicals need a heater set at 23-24C MIN. You will need to do your research on which species can go together in harmony. Coldwater fish ie goldies are ok in temperate water but are super messy and you will need at least 2 filters for 150 litres; an external like an eheim 2213 and an internal like a fluval 4 or better! You seem to have picked your fish based on looks and not practical aspects. Take them all back and don't listen to the eejit who was grubbing after your money and gave you craptastic advice. Get your fish suitable to your setup or upgrade your setup and get different fish. The undergravel filter is such a joke. Don't get me started! If I were in your position, I'd go join a good forum and make a list of how I want my tank to look and what I will need to achieve that. Otherwise you are gonna make some very expensive mistakes and have a lot of hard work ahead."

diy a fish tank into a island? hi we are building a island and i would love to build it around my 55 gallon fish tank do any of you know of a web site that shows how you can do this? if not mabe into a coffee table? thank you all. i appricate all answers teresa

bor_rabnud replied: "www.fishtank.com"

lunatick replied: "Try petman on Staten Island"

Renate replied: "Whatever, just be sure you can still get in an clean the tank efficiently."

Steven W replied: "I've had quite a few aquariums in my time, both fresh and salt, and I may be ignorant but the Q is confusing to me. AROUND,,, as in create an ISLAND with the aquarium kinda buried in it somewhere? A few questions I'd ask are, Where? Do you have space to devote? AROUND meaning the aquarium would be very visible with just some crafted ISLAND type landscape around it? AH WAIT,,, OK my DUH,,, an ISLAND such as a kitchen island work station... whew,,, hope I got it? If the Island is a work station then its height should be approx 30 inches, causing an aquarium incorporated in it to be less, and best viewed seated. If it's purely decorative you can incorporate the aquarium at a decent viewing height, topping it with anything, that might relate to the of your desire. With no offense meant at all, and in actually constructing "tanks" My view is the point. I want to see the contents comfortably, most often at eye level, and have easy access to the TOP allowing feeding, cleaning, etc. Also is this to be a "moveable" Island/coffee table/focus of attention??? I'm thinking of a particular Mac Donalds local to me. They have a 150 gal. tank, surrounded by a counter for eating and seating. When one sits on their chairs/stools their eye level is maybe near 48 inches??? and should in most cases be centered on the tank. Steven Wolf"

What is the maximum weight a table can hold? I'm looking for a table to hold two fish tanks. A few shops have coffee tables, sideboards and TV stands that are the perfect height and width, but all will hold a maximum weight of between 50 and 70kg, whereas I need it to hold 200kg. Is there a way to calculate whether the table will hold the additional weight, or is it trial and error? Also, could such a table be reinforced to support the additional weight, and if so, how?

How close can you put a fish tank to a fireplace safely? I am moving into a new place, and I want to build a fishtank Coffee table, so the fishtank would be near ground level. How close can I get the fishtank (in feet and inches) to a burning fireplace safely? as in without heating up the water to the point of hurting the fishies. Oh, its going to be a 20 gallon tank.

ok let me try this again...i didnt add enough details....? i have a 15 gallon fresh water coffee table fish tank. it has guppies neon fish snails and frogs. i have a heater and a filter...the kind that spits out the water, kinda like a waterfall. do i need a bubbler? ps...how big does my baby guppy have to be before i take him out of his "safty tank" and put him in with the other fish?

sickskillz883 replied: "i dont knoe but a girl spooner? wow i didnt knoe u existed"

gary p replied: "No you do not need a bubbler, your waterfall type filter makes all the bubbles you will ever need. Wait till your guppy is atleast close to an inch long before you put it in"

Oliver T replied: "Are you asking me to fart in the tank?"

wrestling Queen! replied: "no the filter that you have already brings out bubbles when its hit against the water."

Barb R replied: "Because you have a HOB or HOTT type filter with the cascade you are fine for oxygenating a 15 gallon. As for the baby guppy? As per the Guppy Place, please see below for the growth rate for the males, females are slightly larger. Once the baby is big enough to NOT fit into some other fish's mouth? Good to go :) Approximate growth rates of the Guppy. Please keep in mind that this will vary according to care (especially feeding), and genetics. However, I have included this for general reference. Please note that females may grow much larger than the males. Male Body length not including tails. * New born: 6 mm * One Week: .25 inch * Two Weeks: .4 inch * One month: .7 inch * Two months: .8 * Three months: 1 inch * Six months: 1.3 inches * Full grown: 31.5 inches Remember, fish growth is measured only in body length, not including the tail fin :)"

lilyounglady12 replied: "no. the filter provides a good amount of oxygen already. Your guppy should be big enough so the guppies dont eat him... probably about the size of the neons.\ Hope this helps! :-) Lilyoung"

danielle Z replied: "Great can we see photos! BTW your guppie is full grown at around 2 -21/2 months so you decide when you want to put them in. They wil be ok from 2 months to 3 no problems. As far as a bubbler, they do nothing for your fish but look good for you. If you want to have one to make the look complet, cool. Otherwise if you are doing it for the fish, don't bother it does nothing to provide air to your fish. I would still love to see a photo!"
